A few things you might wonder.

Can I come on my own?

Yes. Many people arrive on their own, and our formats are made with that in mind. Our hosts are there to welcome you and help you find your way in.

Who is Femkind for?

Femkind is a community for FLINTA*: female, lesbian, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender people, and other queer and gender-diverse people affected by sexism or patriarchal structures.

Do events cost anything?

Many of our gatherings are free. When something has a ticket price, it is listed clearly on the event page.

What if I’m not sure I belong here?

That question alone tells us a lot. You don’t need a label, a coming out or the right words to be here. If sexism or patriarchal structures shape your life, you are welcome to come as you are, and to take your time figuring out the rest.

Do I have to talk or share anything?

Not at all. Listening is a real way of being part of something. You decide how much you share and when, and it is always okay to arrive quietly, take a break or leave early.

We’re not here to fix you. We’re here to hold space, share tools and walk alongside you, in a city and a world that wasn’t built with us in mind.
our story Why Femkind exists, and where it comes from.

Many FLINTA+ carry experiences of discrimination, harassment and violence that remain unspoken and isolating. A significant share of LGBTIQ+ people have been harassed, attacked or discriminated against in everyday life, and many avoid certain public places out of fear1, 2. Femkind exists to respond to this reality.

And the roots are personal. My mother came from Porto Alegre to Germany and spent much of her life navigating Berlin as a BIPoC FLINTA. She dreamed of a safe space where FLINTA+ could unwind, feel at ease and come together without fear or pressure. She passed away in 2021. Her vision stayed.

Today Femkind is carried by dedicated volunteers we are deeply grateful for, and by collaborations with FLINTA Calendar Berlin and Allies and Rainbows. From FLINTA, for FLINTA.
